When presidents join protests

Not everyone thinks lockdowns are a good idea. People have been protesting lockdowns in several US states, and in Chile, Brazil, Canada and Berlin.

The mainstream media has been describing the American protests as “right wing” or pro-Trump, and Trump has been supportive of the protests. But why should political affiliations have so much sway over an issue of this kind?

Are we really so tribal that our actions have to be dictated by political affiliation? Or is this just another form of manipulation and control by the authorities?
